It aims at assessment of location-specific technology modules in agriculture and allied enterprises, through technology assessment, refinement and demonstrations.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra is a district level institution primarily engaged in transfer of
technology at the grass root level for bridging the gap between production and productivity in
agriculture and allied sector. Since, its inception in 2006, KVK Goalpara has been taken up
various technological interventions in the district to address the identified problem of crop
damage/delayed sowing due to either flood or drought like condition, low productivity of
local cultivars, inadequate availability of good quality of seeds and planting materials and
poor soil management, prevalence of high incidence of insect, pest and disease of crops, low
productivity of the indigenous livestock and poultry, poor infrastructure facility in terms of
post harvest management, marketing, cold storage and farm mechanisation. To cope with the
present changing global agricultural scenario by the farming community, KVK has also been
taken up numerous interventions for promotion of climate resilient and nutri-smart
agriculture, organic and natural farming, crop diversification and intensification through
promotion of pulses and oilseeds, entrepreneurial and skill development for rural youths, soil
health cards, processing & value addition of locally available fruits, Jute cultivation as an
alternative to plastic, market intelligence, etc. It is hoped that ICT based tool will give fillip
to outreach more number of farmers, youths and other stakeholders for efficient
implementation and dissemination of various technological interventions of KVK in coming
days.
