Mrs. R. Hazra Marak, a progressive women entrepreneur from Goalpara district inherited her
interest in pickle making from her mother. Initially she prepared pickles for family, friends
and neighbours. The constant feedback finally motivated her to officially enter the food
processing business. For this she enrolled herself in food processing trainings conducted by
different agencies. She started her pickle preparation business in a small scale from her home
with 6 ladies.
Mrs. Marak formed a group called Raeyan SHG with the ladies from economically poor
background in her neighbourhood to show them a path of empowerment. Mrs. Marak is also
involved in Bonsai cultivation. She caters to markets of Assam as well as neighbouring states
of Meghalaya and West Bengal.
